Spicy Masala Chai

Masala is a traditional blend of warming spices and seasonings. There is no unique composition of this wonderful drink. In some recipes you can find up to 20 ingredients. We will demonstrate one of the easiest, but very aromatic and rich-tasting masala tea recipes.

Ingredients For Masala Chai
  • Whole Green Cardamom Pods: ¼ cup
  • Fennel seeds: 2 tbsp
  • Whole cloves: 2 teaspoon
  • Ground ginger: 2 teaspoon
  • Ground cinnamon: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Whole black peppercorns: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Loose black tea (Indian Assam is a great choice): 3 teaspoon
  • Milk: ~1 cup
Instructions

1 Grind all spices to a powder

Masala Tea 3

2 Add water and chai masala to a pot, and bring it to a boil for 3 minutes

3 Add the black tea to the mixture and allow to boil for about 3 more minutes

4 Pour the milk into the tea, stirring everything together

5 Sugar can be added at this stage or already in the cups, but I prefer masala tea without sugar at all.
